About MzansiClinica

Clinical research expertise, built for Sub-Saharan Africa.

MzansiClinica Pty Ltd is a South African clinical research and quality assurance consultancy dedicated to helping sponsors, CROs, and clinical research sites achieve regulatory compliance and inspection-ready excellence across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Founded on nearly two decades of hands-on clinical trial and quality leadership experience, MzansiClinica bridges the gap between global Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards and the practical realities of running trials across the African regulatory landscape.

Our team has supported clinical research spanning Phase I first-in-human studies through pivotal Phase IIIb efficacy trials, across therapeutic areas including HIV/AIDS prevention, tuberculosis, oncology, COVID-19, and women's and children's health.

Clinical Research Improvement, Quality and Innovation

MzansiClinica (Pty) Ltd is committed to contributing to the continuous improvement of clinical research practices and the way clinical studies are planned, conducted, documented and managed across Africa.

The organisation seeks to identify practical opportunities to improve research processes, site performance, participant experience, data quality, oversight and operational efficiency, while ensuring that such improvements do not compromise or infringe applicable ICH GCP, South African GCP, regulatory, ethical or institutional requirements.

MzansiClinica's approach is based on responsible innovation within the existing regulatory and ethical framework, with patient safety, participant rights, data integrity and scientific quality remaining central to all proposed improvements.

Grant Development and Research Improvement Initiatives

As part of this commitment, MzansiClinica actively participates in the development of grant proposals and research concepts focused on improving clinical research capacity, systems and processes in Africa. This includes identifying relevant funding opportunities and developing proposals that may support:

  • Improvement of clinical research infrastructure and operational systems
  • Digitalisation and optimisation of research processes
  • Improved informed consent and participant engagement
  • Strengthening of site management and clinical research quality
  • Capacity building for African research sites and research personnel
  • Improved regulatory and GCP-compliant research workflows
  • Enhancement of data quality, documentation and source-data processes
  • Innovative approaches to increase efficiency without compromising participant protection or research integrity
  • Development and implementation of sustainable solutions that strengthen African clinical research capability

MzansiClinica views innovation as complementary to, rather than a replacement for, established clinical research standards. All proposed innovations are intended to operate within the requirements of ICH GCP, South African GCP, applicable regulatory requirements and research ethics principles.

Through its operational experience, external site management activities, clinical research partnerships and involvement in grant development, MzansiClinica seeks to contribute not only to the successful delivery of individual studies, but also to the long-term strengthening and modernisation of clinical research in Africa.
